The question above has been raised a lot lately. Many of our elected officials have been asking “Why do good people need semi-automatic firearms or high-capacity magazines?” Many elected officials wrongly think that us ‘good people’ don’t need these things. Of course, most of the mainstream media is following suit. They ask this question and if so ‘why’ to anyone with the courage to appear on their biased ‘news panels.’
In trying to help educate our own fans and customers, we came across a great article by Massad Ayoob. To many of our audience, Massad needs no introduction. He is a very well known firearms instructor and prolific writer. Having not trained with Mr. Ayoob, I suspect we have differing opinions on shooting techniques. That being said, we have NEVER claimed to have a monopoly on good ideas. For more about Massad Ayoob, click on one of the links.
His well written article “Why good people need semi-automatic firearms and high capacity magazines, Part 1“ is linked here. We recommend you all take a quick look at it. Mr. Ayoob lays out a lot of great reasons. You can use these reasons as talking points when arguing w/ those who are less informed.
One of the best paragraphs in this article is the last one. We’ve copied the last paragraph below. Take a quick look at it, then read the whole argument:
“The reasoning is strikingly clear. The cops are the experts on the current criminal trends. If they have determined that a “high capacity” semiautomatic pistol and a .223 semiautomatic rifle with 30-round magazines are the best firearms for them to use to protect people like me and my family, they are obviously the best things for us to use to protect ourselves and our families” (link to full article here).
Again, we thought it was a pretty good article and definitely worth a quick read. So take a look. This article, along w/ a lot of our recent blog articles is part of a series of articles about Gun Control. We feel strongly that infringing on the 2nd Amendment Rights of law abiding citizens will NOT lower violent crime or gun related crime. Let us know what you think!
