Training Classes for the Week of August 26 – 31, 2013
We have a wide variety of training opportunities this week. Everything from airsoft force-on-force training to learning about the AR15 platform rifle to a women’s only pistol fundamentals class to concealed carry training. You can read more about these classes below. Make sure to sign up online early in order to secure your spot.
Civilian Response to An Active Shooter at the Black Site – August 26 (Monday), 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
This class was designed to give those that carry a concealed handgun the next level of training to better prepare them to use a firearm in a public setting. Participants of this class will learn in the classroom some of the key aspects to identifying and engaging a threat with a firearm, and will then practice identifying and engaging threats in realistic force-on-force scenarios against other role-players using airsoft training guns. Anyone that carries or plans to carry a concealed handgun should ensure they are properly trained to do so; this class is a good start to that!
Intro to the AR Rifle – August 27 (Tuesday), 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Our Introduction to the AR Platform Rifle Class covers a lot of the beginner knowledge not covered in our Fundamentals class. In this class, we discuss the different types of ARs, the parts and functioning of the AR, as well as how to field strip, clean and care for the AR. Also covered is gear & ammunition selection specific to the AR. As with all classes, we will discuss safety and weapons awareness, including loading, press checking and firing. We also discuss factors to consider when selecting an AR for purchase. This class takes place in our classroom and does not include any live fire training. If you have an AR, please bring it to class (unloaded and in a case).
Women’s Only BluCore Pistol I – August 28 (Wednesday), 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.
The Women’s Only Pistol I class is for those that desire a female-only environment (we have male & female instructors teaching this class). This is our fundamental level class for those seeking to learn the proper way to handle and shoot a semi-automatic pistol. If you’ve been shooting for years or are new to shooting, this class is necessary to develop the proper techniques and fundamentals of shooting. Many people have never learned the proper way to align sights or grip a pistol. These fundamentals, and many more, are covered in Pistol I. Bring a gun if you have one, or feel free to rent one of the 50 pistols we have as part of our rental fleet! This class is great for all ages and experience levels.
Legal Aspects of Concealed Carry – August 28 (Wednesday), 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The Legal Aspects of Concealed Carry class was designed for people looking to obtain their concealed handgun permit, or for current “permit holders” looking to improve their knowledge & understanding of concealed carry laws. In this class, we discuss specific rules and regulations regarding carrying concealed. We also have substantial time set aside for Q&A. This class is taught by an active duty Law Enforcement Officer. This is a one night class and does not include any range time.
Concealed Carry Pistol I – August 28 & 29 (Wednesday & Thursday), 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
In the Concealed Carry Pistol I class, the first night will be spent solely on the legal aspects of concealed carry laws. This part of the class is taught by a law enforcement officer. On the second night, you will learn about the variety of concealed carry holsters, how to draw from concealment, and you’ll get to practice live fire drills on the range drawing from concealment. Great for all CCW permit holders! You will also earn the certificate necessary to apply for your CCW permit.
