Zastava EZ9 and SAR Arms ST10 9mm Pistols

The current state of the industry has presented many challenges to manufacturers, gun stores, and consumers the past few months. Manufacturers are struggling to keep up with demand, gun stores are struggling to stock their shelves with firearms and ammo, and consumers are having a difficult time getting the merchandise they desire.

BluCore has been working very hard to keep our shelves stocked with a variety of handguns, rifles and shotguns. Firearms made by well-known manufacturers such as Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, Springfield Armory and Glock fly off the shelves as soon as they arrive. We are doing everything possible get more of those popular guns in stock, but we also wanted to let you know about some of the other guns we have in stock that are available for purchase now. Zastava and SAR Arms may not be well known in the United States, but they are well known and popular in other parts of the world. Since 9mm pistols are always in high demand, we are going to highlight the Zastava EZ9 and SAR Arms ST10 in today’s blog.

Zastava EZ9

The Zastava EZ9 is a 9mm semi automatic pistol that is considered a Sig Sauer P226 clone. Although it is not well known in the U.S., it is one of the most widely used pistols in the world (under different model numbers). Originally they were imported by European American Armory (EAA), but they did a terrible job marketing them to the U.S. Part of the problem was that Zastava had a different model number for the exact same pistol in each country they were sold in, which made it very confusing. For example, in the U.S., they were sold under Charles Daly ZDA & the EAA EZ9. They were sold elsewhere as the CZ-99, CZ-999 Scorpion (without rail), and the CZ-05.

Made in Serbia and imported by Arsenal, Inc., these tough pistols are built like tanks and used by military all over the world including Serbia, Iraq, Croatia, Israel and more. The slide of the gun is machined out of one solid block of steel and the frame is machined from a solid block of aluminum alloy. The barrel is chrome lined, polished, and 4.25” long.

The design of the EZ9 was based on the CZ 999 Scorpion, but with a Picatinny rail and a different hammer. Instead of a long spurred hammer, the EZ hammer is round, hollow and checkered at the point where a shooter’s thumb would connect to it. One thing that is interesting about the EZ9 is that the decocking lever also serves as the slide release.

The EZ9 has a double action/single action trigger, features a fully ambidextrous design, fixed 3 dot sights, Picatinny accessory rail, and two 15-round magazines. We have this gun in our rental fleet, so you can “try before you buy.”

SAR Arms ST10

Most Americans have not heard of the Turkish gun manufacturer, Sarsilmaz, even though they are the third largest firearms factory in Europe. In addition to that, they are the exclusive supplier of duty pistols for the Turkish military, which is the second largest military in NATO. Even though this manufacturer is not well known in the U.S., they are recognized worldwide for their quality and durability.

The European American Armory (EAA) has introduced some of the Sarsilmaz guns under the name SAR Arms. EAA is known for finding high quality guns and bringing them into the US at affordable and fair prices. One of those guns is the SAR Arms 9mm ST10. Some people feel it is an exact copy of an HK USP, while others feel it is a cross between a CZ75 and a Sig Sauer P226.

The features on the ST10 are what you would expect on a high quality semi-auto pistol. It has serviceable, no-snag, three dot sights, a front rail molded into the alloy frame, a stainless steel barrel, and the magazine holds 15 rounds. The trigger on this pistol is double action/single action, with the double action pull at 8 ½ pounds and the single action pull is just under 5 pounds.

A very important thing to note is that the side lever is not a decocker, it is a manual safety. The gun can be carried cocked and locked in single action, or you can manually let down the hammer with your thumb for a double action first pull. The ST10 comes with 2 magazines, a belt holster and mag pouch.
