New Shooter?

If you are new to shooting, this page is designed to help you get started.  Below, we cover basic firearm safety rules, as well as safety rules specific to our facility.  We also recommend some training classes for new shooters, summarize how to apply for your Colorado Concealed Carry Permit, and also discuss how we can help you purchase your first gun.  And finally, we give you a brief overview on using the range.

And remember, if you ever have any questions, please just let us know.  We are always happy to help new shooters get started in the great sport of shooting.

SAFETY RULES

Everyone that handles firearms must understand firearm safety. These are the 4 basic safety rules that you must always follow.

 It is critical that you know and understand these rules and follow them at all times when handling firearms.

To also help ensure everyone’s safety, when you enter our facility, we require that all firearms are in a case and unloaded.  If you do not have a case, we have many affordable options available in our retail area. Please do not uncase or handle firearms outside of your specific lane.

We also have additional safety rules and policies specific to our facility.  These have been implemented to help ensure the safety of everyone at BluCore Shooting Center.  It is required that you follow these rules at all times when you are at our facility.

Training

Shooters of all skill level will benefit from taking advantage of the variety of different classes offered by BluCore Shooting Center. Our level 1 Pistol and Rifle classes are a great introduction for new shooters and provide the foundational skills necessary to become competent with your firearm of choice. Click here for more information on these classes.

Our level 2 Pistol and Rifle classes are designed for shooters who have a firm grasp on the fundamentals of shooting, and can apply them at near-subconscious level. This is where the rubber truly meets the road for most shooters, as we expose you to different time standards and drills designed to help elevate your shooting performance. Completion of BluCore Pistol or Rifle 1 is required to enroll in these classes. Proof of instruction from outside institutions will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. We reserve the right to bump you into a level 1 class or private instruction if needed.

Our level 3 Pistol and Rifle classes are extensions of our level 2 courses. In these classes we begin to explore atypical and positional shooting, employ the use of a V-Tac barricade, and give you even tougher time standards to beat compared to Pistol/Rifle 2.

Concealed Carry Permit

Considering getting your concealed handgun permit? We’ll you’ve come to the right place! Our revamped concealed carry course satisfies ALL of the requirements set forth by HB24-1174. Confused about those requirements? Don’t worry, we make it easy.

New Permits:

An initial concealed handgun training class is a law enforcement training firearms safety course or a firearms safety course taught by an instructor verified by a county sheriff (verified instructor) that is held in person and includes instruction regarding:

  • Knowledge and safe handling of firearms and ammunition;
  • Safe storage of firearms and child safety;
  • Safe shooting fundamentals;
  • Federal and state laws pertaining to the lawful purchase, ownership, transportation, use, and possession of firearms;
  • State law pertaining to the use of deadly force for self-defense;
  • Best practices for safely interacting with law enforcement personnel who are responding to an emergency; and
  • Techniques for avoiding a criminal attack and how to manage a violent confrontation, including conflict resolution and judgmental use of lethal force.

A student must achieve a passing score on a written concealed handgun competency exam and in a live-fire exercise to complete an initial concealed handgun training class. An initial concealed handgun training class must provide at least 8 hours of instruction, including the live-fire exercise and written exam.

Renewals/Refreshers:

A renewal applicant may demonstrate competence with a handgun through participation in organized shooting competitions, current military service, or current certification as a peace officer; by being a verified instructor for firearms safety courses; by showing honorable discharge from a branch of the United States armed forces or retirement from a Colorado law enforcement agency with pistol qualifications within 10 years prior to submitting a renewal form; or completing an initial concealed handgun training class or a concealed handgun refresher class (refresher class) within 6 months prior to submitting a renewal form. A refresher class must be held in person, be taught by a verified instructor, include instruction on changes to laws related to firearms, and require a passing score on a live-fire exercise and written exam. A refresher class must provide at least 2 hours of instruction, including the live-fire exercise and written exam.
